Hand stitching can appear wonderfully intricate, but you don’t need any previous experience to begin. With a needle, thread, and a handful of foundational stitches, you can create lines, texture, shape, and delicate details by hand..
Throughout the course, we’ll work step by step through straight stitch, running stitch, back stitch, whipped back stitch, French knots, lazy daisy, stem stitch, satin stitch, and chain stitch. You’ll have time to practice each one and discover how these simple techniques become the building blocks for your own stitched work.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a completed stitch sampler, a helpful reference to return to, and greater confidence creating with needle and thread.

Meet Gabi
Working with textiles and stitch is a natural extension of my botanical work. I’m drawn to the simplicity of needle and thread and to the way a few foundational stitches can be combined to create line, texture, shape, and detail.
During Premiers Points: First Stitches, I’ll guide you step by step through the essential stitches you’ll return to again and again. We’ll take time to understand how each stitch is formed, practice it together, and explore some of the ways it can be used in your own creative work.
This isn’t about perfect stitches or mastering complicated embroidery techniques. It’s an approachable place to begin—one that allows you to learn at your own pace, become comfortable with needle and thread, and develop confidence in your own hand.
My hope is that you’ll leave the course with a completed sampler, a useful reference to return to, and the confidence to continue exploring all that can begin with a few simple stitches.
