Provence in Miniature: Tiny Studies of Place

A gentle return to memory, place, and presence—one small painting at a time.

There’s something quietly meaningful about capturing a place in miniature—distilling its textures, colors, and spirit into a handful of simple marks.

A weathered shutter. A sunlit doorway. A sprig of lavender in a handmade jar.

Provence in Miniature: Tiny Studies of Place is a 90-minute watercolor workshop inspired by the warm charm and rustic beauty of rural France. Together, we’ll explore how tiny studies—intimate, layered, and imperfect—can carry the soul of a place.

In this quiet, hands-on session, you’ll be guided through sketching and painting small, expressive scenes drawn from life in Provence. Each study becomes a way of paying attention, holding memory, and practicing presence.

Whether you’re new to watercolor or returning after a season away, this workshop invites you into a slower pace and a gentler kind of making.

You’ll learn:
• How to sketch and paint tiny place-based studies using watercolor and ink
• Techniques for capturing texture, light, and mood in a small format
• Ways to use visual journaling as a spiritual and creative rhythm
• Gentle prompts to reflect on memory, place, and creative noticing

You’ll walk away with:
• A collection of expressive miniature studies inspired by Provence
• A quiet watercolor practice you can return to again and again
• A renewed sense of connection to place, creativity, and the beauty of small things

This is a space for slowing down, for savoring detail, and for allowing even the tiniest study to speak.

Come trace the contours of Provence—one line at a time.
