Frequently Asked Questions

  • Gabi accepts a limited number of commissions that align with her studio practice and materials. These include:

    • Handbound books and journals, created using traditional binding methods

    • Custom botanical-printed or preserved botanical covers, papers, or endpapers

    • Small-scale, one-of-a-kind book objects intended to be held, used, and kept

Commissioned work is approached with the same care as studio pieces, allowing time for thoughtful gathering, printing, binding, and finishing. Each commission reflects natural variation in materials and process and is created in conversation with the season, available botanicals, and the intended use of the piece.

Gabi does not accept commissions that require:

    • Exact replication of previous work

    • Synthetic or non-aligned materials

    • Large production runs

Commissions are considered selectively and accepted based on alignment, timing, and capacity within the studio.

  • Yes. Whether you're considering a commissioned piece or simply want guidance on selecting artwork for your space, Gabi offers virtual consultations by appointment. These conversations help clarify vision, size, palette, and placement so the artwork feels personal and well-suited to your home.

  • The commission process typically unfolds over 8 - 12 weeks, depending on the scope of the piece, materials involved, and current studio commitments.

Because Gabi’s work often includes botanical gathering, pressing or printing, hand bookbinding, and careful finishing, time is an essential part of the process. Each piece is made slowly, allowing materials to respond naturally and the work to take its proper shape.

Specific timelines are discussed during the consultation or inquiry phase, once the nature of the commission is clear. Rush timelines are not available, as the work is shaped by season, process, and care rather than deadlines.

  • Yes. Gabi works with collectors and clients worldwide. Whether she’s creating from her studio in Tennessee or her seasonal studio in Provence, consultations can be held virtually, and finished artwork is carefully packaged and shipped internationally. Shipping rates and timelines vary by location and will be discussed during the commission process.

COMMISSIONs

  • Yes—botanical materials are living marks. Over time, impressions may soften or gently fade, especially with exposure to light. This change is part of the work’s honesty and reflects the natural passage of time rather than wear or damage.

  • Handmade and botanical papers benefit from thoughtful handling. Avoid rubbing or abrasion, and take care when transporting the book in bags or stacks. Over time, subtle changes in texture and tone may occur and are considered part of the work’s life.

  • Absolutely. These books are made to be lived with. Regular use will naturally shape the pages and spine, giving the book a patina that reflects your time with it. Gentle handling will help the structure remain strong over the years.

CARE & KEEPING

  • Orders typically ship within 7 business days, unless otherwise noted. Many pieces are made or finished in the studio before shipping, and time is taken to ensure each item is carefully prepared and packaged. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your order has shipped.

  • Some pieces are made to order, while others are created in small batches and released as they are completed. Because the work often involves botanical printing, pressing, and hand binding, slight variations are a natural and valued part of each piece.

  • International shipping may be available for select items. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by location and will be calculated at checkout. Please note that collectors are responsible for any customs fees or duties required by their country.

Shipping

  • Because many items are handmade or made to order, returns and exchanges are not generally accepted. If your order arrives damaged or there is an issue with your shipment, please reach out within a few days of delivery so it can be addressed with care.
